Cutting energy costs by 40%
How Envisij powers savings
By leveraging Envisij, Neutral Home successfully transformed its client’s energy efficiency, achieving a 40% reduction in energy costs and emissions. This case study demonstrates how data-driven energy monitoring and real-time insights can unlock measurable savings and support long-term sustainability goals.
PROJECT CHALLENGE:
A Neutral Home client had an ambitious goal: reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions by 40% within two years. To meet this target, Neutral Home needed a detailed understanding of energy usage across the client’s site.
An initial assessment revealed:
• All heating relied on electricity
• HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems ran 24/7
• No renewable energy sources were in place
• Additional inefficiencies included unnecessary kitchen, lighting, and local heating usage
Since heating and HVAC were the biggest energy consumers, they became the primary focus, along with a planned solar investment. However, maintaining comfortable conditions for patients, staff, and visitors was a top priority.

BACKGROUND
Neutral Home is a Net Zero consultancy that specialises in reducing energy costs and carbon emissions for a variety of private and public sector clients, including hospices, schools, and churches. Their work relies on high-quality data-driven insights, practical energy-saving strategies, and verified reporting for decision-makers. Neutral Home use Envisij software as the foundation of their recommendations.
solution
Neutral Home implemented Envisij Energy Analytics, an advanced energy monitoring platform, along with on-site data measurement hardware. This provided real-time insights into:
• kWh (kilowatt-hour) consumption
• Carbon emissions
• Energy use from HVAC Air Handling Units (AHUs), the Data Centre, Kitchen, and Patient Treatment Areas
Additionally, the site invested in solar panels to offset air conditioning costs and prepare for a transition to electric vehicles.
A key factor in Neutral Home’s decision to use Envisij software and hardware was scalability. The Envisij platform allows for future upgrades, including the powerful new Demand Management module, which can automate energy-saving actions by adjusting asset usage in near real-time, while being sensitive to local operational needs.
results
Neutral Home used Envisij’s Demand Management module to optimise AHU operations. These units were running 24/7 despite only being needed during working hours. By leveraging Envisij’s monitoring and automated controls, they reduced AHU operation time by 12 hours per day.
40% reduction in HVAC energy costs and carbon emissions.
35% return on investment in just 3 months.
