A Neutral Home client had an ambitious goal: reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions by 40% within two years. To meet this target, Neutral Home needed a detailed understanding of energy usage across the client’s site.

An initial assessment revealed:
• All heating relied on electricity
• HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems ran 24/7
• No renewable energy sources were in place
• Additional inefficiencies included unnecessary kitchen, lighting, and local heating usage

Since heating and HVAC were the biggest energy consumers, they became the primary focus, along with a planned solar investment. However, maintaining comfortable conditions for patients, staff, and visitors was a top priority.

Their work relies on high-quality data-driven insights, practical energy-saving strategies, and verified reporting for decision-makers. Neutral Home implemented Envisij Energy Analytics, an advanced energy monitoring platform, along with on-site data measurement hardware. This provided real-time insights into:

• kWh (kilowatt-hour) consumption
• Carbon emissions
• Energy use from HVAC Air Handling Units (AHUs), the Data Centre, Kitchen, and Patient Treatment Areas

Additionally, the site invested in solar panels to offset air conditioning costs and prepare for a transition to electric vehicles.

A key factor in Neutral Home’s decision to use Envisij software and hardware was scalability. The Envisij platform allows for future upgrades, including the powerful new Demand Management module, which can automate energy-saving actions by adjusting asset usage in near real-time, while being sensitive to local operational needs.
